A friend of mine has a great blog that I enjoy reading a lot. She was lucky enough to be a part of a Samsung team at the winter olympics and now she's on her way to South East Asia and then Australia. This was an unrelated post that caught my eye but if you want to see the rest, check her out here.
June 8/2010 - Midsummer Dreaming
During the summer I’m always in search of that perfect day - the kind of day that can make you believe that all’s right with the world. A day of simplicity, sheer happiness, sunshowers and skies for miles. For me, it’s what dreams are made of…
Waking up early for a hike and watching a sunrise through dewey mist from the clifftops. Throwing on a summer dress, heading to the beach with your friend to be respectably lazy, toss around a football and walk to the lighthouse. Blading to the icecream shop and gazing out on the water while it drips from the cone down on to your hand. Enjoying a cold beer on someone’s backyard patio with a wicked group. Driving to the lookout, blasting that perfect playlist, bare feet on the dash while the warm summer air whips through your hair and catching the last glimpse of that day’s sun. Sitting around a fire and letting the sounds of your buddy’s guitar and loud belly laughs drown out the crickets…. ahhhh, yeah.
It might be summer in “boring” Burlington or wherever you call home… but just don’t forget about all the free, easy things that summer has to offer. Shed your tensions with your clothes and turn off your mind and phone. Go out there and soak up all your free time with those people you love and the best friends in the world before September comes around to steal them all away….
It doesn’t last forever.
